We are on a Break!
Wishing Everyone a Happy Independence Day!!
From the first light of dawn on August 15, 1947 to the proud flutter of the Tiranga today, our nation’s journey has been one of resilience, unity and hope. This day is a tribute to those who dreamed of a free country and to every citizen who works to keep that dream alive.
Independence Day is also a moment to reflect on the ongoing work of strengthening the systems that uphold our freedoms. Nation-building is a continuous process, shaped by policy choices in governance, economic development, social equity and environmental stewardship. The way we address these priorities will determine the strength and inclusiveness of India that future generations inherit.
Let’s carry forward this legacy with pride, integrity and love for our motherland. Here’s to the spirit of India—unbreakable, unstoppable and forever free.
We’ll be taking a short break this week and will return in the next edition with more policy analysis and insights.
Policy Musings- A Podcast by BharatGAIN
Can India Become a Global Electronics Hub?
Did you know? Over 90% of India’s e-waste is handled by informal workers in unsafe conditions. What if we told you that this could change?
In a recent episode of Policy Musings by BharatGAIN, Colonel Suhail Zaidi, Director General of MAIT, sheds light on this pressing issue. He emphasises the importance of formalising the e-waste recycling sector, particularly focusing on training and integrating waste pickers into the formal economy.
These informal workers, often operating without proper training or safety measures, play a crucial role in managing e-waste. However, their lack of formal recognition and resources exposes them to health risks and environmental hazards.
Could formalising this sector, with proper training and safety, be the key to transforming India’s e-waste crisis into an opportunity for sustainability and growth?
